Thesis Titile: Understanding the relationship between affordable housing and sustainable well being


Bangkim Kshetrimayum  is a Ph.D. candidate at the Centre for Urban Science and Engineering (CUSE), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, India. His doctoral research deals with the relationship between affordable housing and well-being in Indian context. He has an Architectural degree from Birla Institute of Technology and post graduation in City Planning from IIT Kharagpur. He has worked in four different universities in different capacities namely IIM Ahmedabad (as Academic Associate), NIT Trichy (as Temporary Faculty), BIT Mesra (as Assistant Professor) , and NEHU (as Guest Faculty).

His doctoral research entitled ‘Understanding the relationship between affordable housing and sustainable well-being’ investigates the quality of affordable housing and the relation other factors like health using indicators like residential satisfaction, life satisfaction and health. Three Slum Rehabilitation Housing and chawls in one ward have been taken as the case study.

So the novelty of the work lies in conceptualizing a model for sustainable well-being in affordable housing development. His research has been communicated in international conference like ‘Urban Transitions 2018’.
