 Ph.D Admission criteria:

First Class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC/ST), as specified in the General Eligibility Criterion, in the qualifying degree:

A) M.Tech./M.E.  or  equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering
OR
Master’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning, Environmental Sciences,Energy Sciences, Geography, Social Sciences, Economics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, MBA/PGDM, or related disciplines.

B) B.Tech./B.E.  or  equivalent degree in any branch of Engineering
OR
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Urban Planning or related disciplines.

with and at least two years of work experience and a valid score in GATE/UGC-NET (Lectureship)/UGC-JRF/CSIR-NET (Lectureship)/CSIR-JRF exams, to be eligible for TA category.

A screening exam will be conducted for Ph.D. candidate selection.

STATEMENT OF PURPOSE (SOP):

Candidates are required to bring with them a SOP. SOP gives the candidate an opportunity to share with the admission committee his/her motivation behind, and preparation for the PhD. SOP should briefly describe (a) a past project/ research work done (b) a new project/research work the candidate  would like to undertake. SOP is restricted to 1000 words. The SOP will aid the admission committee in evaluating an applicant.

WRITTEN TEST:

The written test is compulsory and is common for all candidates, irrespective of  their discipline or the category in which they apply (TA/RA/PS/IS/SW etc). The test is designed to assess only the numeracy, reading comprehension and writing skills – not the disciplinary knowledge – of the candidates.

INTERVIEW:

Candidates short-listed on the basis of the performance in the written test are invited to appear for the interview, on the same day.

SELECTION:

The final selection would be based on the qualifications, recommendations, GATE score, SOP, written test and interview.
