Eligible candidates are encouraged to apply. The application form and relevant information could be found at:

Candidates are required to bring with them a SOP. SOP gives the candidate an opportunity to share with the admission committee his/her motivation behind, and preparation for the PhD. SOP should briefly describe (a) a past project/ research work done (b) a new project/research work the candidate  would like to undertake. SOP is restricted to 1000 words. The SOP will aid the admission committee in evaluating an applicant.

The written test is compulsory and is common for all candidates, irrespective of  their discipline or the category in which they apply (TA/RA/PS/IS/SW etc). The test is designed to assess only the numeracy, reading comprehension and writing skills – not the disciplinary knowledge – of the candidates.

Candidates short-listed on the basis of the performance in the written test are invited to appear for the interview, on the same day.

The final selection would be based on the qualifications, recommendations, GATE score, SOP, written test and interview.
